I stumbled across these beautiful photos thanks to Photojojo's newsletter on Dia de los Muertos.
This sombre series of portraits taken of people before and after they had died is a challenging and poignant study. I have found such a connection to these photos, they are such a beautiful representation of life, and the ultimate journey that we are all destined to take.
All photography by Walter Schels.
