Here is the thing, I love birth stories. I could listen to them all day long. So being present for one, getting to document it was such an incredible experience. And it was just a huge plus that it was my cousin.
I got to the hospital at one a.m. with my cousin telling me to hurry as she was sure this baby was coming any minute, well eight hours, a few three a.m. betos burritos, fitfull naps and a couple false starts, the beautiful Nohea made her entrance. She was well worth the wait!

wally, rocky & turtle

Ever been to Benjamin, UT? Me neither. But I got to go out there a few weeks ago to photograph Wally the mastif, Rocky the mutt and Turtle the thoroughbred. From the moment I exited my car, Wally and Rocky were exceedingly friendly to say the least. They did not leave my side the whole day. Needless to say I love them both.

My clients then informed be that I could just go down the pasture and meet Turtle. I asked if the horses would mind (really I was quite nervous to go traipsing around in their territory, I have not spent much time around horses) As I made my way down, with Wally & Rocky at my heels the horses paid me no mind. But then I got a bit closer and they all perked up and began slowly in my direction (as seen in the photo directly above) before I new it I had six horse faces inches from my own.

It was pretty incredible, they were nudging me and competing for my attention. It was such a great experience. It did however get a bit hairy when I began to actually shoot, the shutter spooked them and I found myself climbing over the fence very quickly. The rest of the shoot went so well and will probably remain one of my favorites.

Hudson is super lucky his Aunt Holly and Uncle Eric work at the Hogle Zoo. So we got to spend a wonderful afternoon there with them and Grandma & Grandpa Peterson. We all got to feed Aunt Holly's giraffe, and of course I was taking pictures like crazy, but alas it was film and I have lost the roll, and am so bummed about it. Maybe one day it will reappear.

I can't believe Penelope is two already! I remember holding her as a newborn when I was 9+ months pregnant. And now she is two and Hudson will be two this week!!!! Time flies. Luke really is the way coolest dad ever, and thanks to my grandma he now has a sweet sweatshirt making it official. We had a lovely fathers day BBQ and hung out with family. It was really cool of Hudson to drive us there, that kid really pulls his weight. Probably cause he has such a great dad.

Huge white suburbans, Vegas with 3 kids under 4, Jaleo (the kiddos ate & thew foie gras it was wonderful.) Kardashians, Tim Gunn, My strange addiction, several tantrums, many naps, amazing pizza (Christopher is one amazing house wife.)

A camping trip that only half our party made it though the night the the ladies and babies went home to plumbing & sheets (turns out taking a 22 month old camping is just about the most ridiculous thing you can do.) We managed to do a lot of fun stuff and a lot of t.v. watching so it was pretty much a perfect weekend.

*And for a little geekery, the last three photos are film. Kodak Portra 400, Nikon N90. They look a little 70's in a bad way to me, time for a new camera.

After the car parade festivities we headed up to Bear Lake for some raspberry shakes and delicious fried delicacies. While there I met DJ Don Ricky and his very awesome Canon 5d, we geeked out for awhile about all the redeeming qualities of a Canon camera took each others photograph and I have been enjoying his videos ever since.

We of course had a marvelous time with our dear Emily and Aaron. Hudson is kind of head over heels for Aaron, but who wouldn't be? Hudson really had a good time particularly with pole in the middle of our table!

I wasn't going to add these but, as you can see pole dancing took it right out of him and he slept like and angel all the way home. And I mean look at that face, those lips I mean awww. Right? I know.

This was one of the funnest things we did all summer! Emily had us up for her families annual 4th of July Logan car show party (which if you haven't been is so worth going and beats the pants off the Provo parade.) Her grandpa had a beautiful baby blue '67 mustang in the show and it was worth the drive up just to see it. I had never been to Logan and this was a great introduction. We hope to make many more trips up.

I am married to the greatest person ever. So we celebrated!

First at Tulie Bakery to pick up anniversary coconut cake. Then on to Mazza for an incredible meal. Rounded out the evening eating aforementioned cake at the Salt Lake Temple where it all started. We finished the evening the way one should end all perfect evenings in the SLC at the Albertos drive through at one in the morning.

It's been an incredible six years, here's to a million more.

Haily's Birthday Party

My sweet Haily is six years old! And her parents threw her such a fun party. There is absolutely nothing better than a little girls birthday party! The squealing, copious amounts of pink and sugar, and my personal favorite little girls whacking the crap out of a Disney princess pinata.

And speaking of said pinata, here is a photo of the very appropriate outer shell of pinata and its wildly inappropriate inner lining. At least the Ann Boleyn photo was historically correct.

Ah 28, ten years ago just leaving high school this age seemed like an eternity away. But here I am and it's pretty great, I like it here. After all I hear that 30 is the new 20 so I guess I am still eighteen, fantastic.

My birthday was great, I worked in a few naps. I celebrated several times with s'mores and had some seriously good food. Frida Bistro, was SO good. Go at your earliest opportunity! The Chocolate, (and here are some great photos of said Chocolate goodness) which someone told me wasn't that good well they were wrong. I would say they have the best cupcakes in Utah County. Their cupcakes and cake actually have balance instead of just be a sugary bomb. And of course I had to eat at Slab and of course it was delicious and perfection in pizza. And yes I do order the Meikel when I go there as should you. The Luke is pretty great too.

And speaking of how great Luke is, my dear Mr. Reece brought me into the 21st century by bestowing upon me an iphone to replace the ridiculous brick posing as a phone that I had been cursing for two long years. There will be a cathartic burning later. Now I feel like a whole new woman, no longer will I miss calls and texts, no longer will I go days and days to answer my e-mail! Call me, text me, e-mail me-I dare you!

Halloween

Since it's almost St. Patricks day I thought I would continue with my past year catch up and give you Halloween. At this rate I should be posting Christmas by Mothers Day so happy holidays everybody.

Since it was Hudson's first Halloween I had grand dreams of making him elaborate costumes, I had visions of sewing him a tiny green velvet jacket and he was going to be Frodo. And then for varitey he would change into the R2-D2 shell I was going to paper mache and hand paint. But then it was October 30th and JoAnns was having a sale and so. . . yeah maybe next year, maybe next year.

There are so many talented interior designers out there. But I have to say Alice Lane has one of the very best in Suzanne Hall. (Suzanne is the cute blond with the great pixie cut.) Suzanne has a way of taking a space and really transforming it into a space that is not only chic, but welcoming. She has the ability to never make a space feel pretentious and instead make it truly reflect the personality of the owner. Suzanne is pure talent.

Not only did I have a great time getting to work with Suzanne and the lovely owner of Alice Lane Jessica, but I got to spend a little bit of time with Stephanie & Christian Nielson. And they are truly some of the kindest and most genuine people on earth. They made me feel so welcome in their home and it was such a pleasure to get to work on this project.

My grandparents homemade root beer is the best part of summer. They used to start making it in May until September and it was involved in all my best childhood memories. It is an old pioneer recipe involving hops, yeast, sugar, root beer extract, one ancient Gott cooler, water, a little elbow grease and a bottle capper. People either love it or they hate it but we will always make you try it at least once.

Steve Rinella-The Wild Within
Steven Rinella is a master outdoors man who believes that we have gotten to far away from our hunter/gatherer roots. We don't know where our food comes from and we don't respect the animals that we get it from. While this sounds like a PETA advertisement, it isn't. It is just one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. This guy is legit. And the show is beautiful to watch.

The Social Network

Yes I know this came out a long time ago-but it is so good. SO. GOOD. And it kind of makes me want to delete my Facebook account. But I probably won't. Damn you Zuckerburg.

Zombieland

Apparently I am on a little bit of a Jesse Eisenburg kick. This show is irreverent and fun, and Bill Murray makes a great cameo. What more could you want?

Parks and Recreation

Thank goodness this show is back on. An excellent replacement for the office, since let's face it will not be worth watching when Steve Carrel is gone. And what is up with him not winning the Golden Globe? And the SAG award? But I digress.

And the man that makes the show worth watching, Mr. Ron Swanson.

SALT

I hardly ever rent from Redbox because a one dollar rental usually turns into a $28.00 movie. I have problems returning movies on time. But after seeing SALT not only did I run back to Redbox to return it I wanted every penny of my dollar back. It is the WORST movie I have ever seen. And 90 minutes of my life I will never get back. Angelia should have her Oscar revoked for being in the movie.

Resolutions & rice cereal

Happy twenty-eleven everyone. While I tend to avoid new years resolutions (I have always felt they are a bit like diets, they tend to start on Monday and unravel by midweek) I do however want this year to be a year of doing and avoiding procrastination as much as humanly possible.

So I thought I would start off the year properly by playing catch up on all the posts I meant to do last year. And to start us off, Hudson and his first rice cereal experience, capped off with a rousing game of where's-the-binky.

A huge thank you to Heather Telford for letting me second shoot Whitey's bridals! We spent a very sucessfull rainy afternoon at the Springville Art Museum trying to keep the bride from the elements and the photos looking like a lovely summer afternoon. The Telford Family

Heather Telford is one of the nicest girls I know. So it has been so great to get to work with her again! I met Heather several years ago while working at Sundance, she was a waitress and I was a lowly busser. A few years later we ran into each other at a bridal fair (when we both tried our hand at the wedding floral industry and left it) and thanks to a mutual friend we have stayed in touch over the years.

These days Heather is a successful Utah wedding and family portrait photographer and I was lucky enough to take her family photos. It was such a fun morning running after her darling boys and spending time with Heather and her husband Jeff.

Heather has been kind enough to let me tag along and second shoot for some of her bridals (which you will see later today) and I get to do it again at the wedding later this week.

Rifle Christmas Cards

Since I will probably fail at sending Christmas cards this year, why don't I just show you the ones I would send out were I Miss Merry Christmas and on the ball.

Rifle Paper Co. never ceases to amaze, and this Christmas line is no exception. They are just so delightfully simple and classic. One of these Christmases I will spring for custom cards that they offer and do my very best to actually send them out.

Thought I would start out with an Everyday post.

Life has been pretty great, my little one is growing up way too fast and I cannot believe it's December already. I have been so lucky to be busy working on project after project and I am finally getting caught up enough to rejoin the internet world. I have missed it.

So what can you expect? Lots of goodness coming from this blog as often as possible.

Quite possibly the coolest thing to happen to wedding photography in a long time. I wish I had one of these for of our wedding day, the day Hudson was born and just one of everyday life in our house. My hats off to Bayly & Moore for this super fresh take on capturing a wedding day.

It was such a pleasure doing this shoot for the lovelies at Just Cook Already! And so much fun to have a photo published! I am absolutely, one hundred percent a huge fan of the Harry Potter potter books. Huge as in I own all the British versions (or as I refer to them as, the correct versions) and I subscribe to several online Potter newsletters, I have been sorted (Gryffindor, of course) and have been to platform 9 3/4. I have yet to purchase my own wand, but I haven't ruled it out (they are after all only $28.95)

However, I have not been a fan of the movies. In fact I have so vocally disliked them that my friends no longer want to see them with me as I immediately point out all the things they either added or omitted (read: HP3 Hermione and Harry and the way they portray getting into the shrieking shack, ridiculous.) And for the record Warner Bros. I totally would have sat through 4 hours for each movie if you had taken the time to get it right. And I am pretty sure I am not alone in that sentiment.

After seeing this trailer, I think they may have gotten it right the 7th time around. Ahhh so very, very exited. Nerd Out.

Also- in case you missed it (I did, I haven't ever watched Oprah.) Here is the lovely miss O interviewing the ever so charming J.K. Rowling, or Jo as Oprah calls her. My favorite part is when they are discussing how they are coping with their billions. I suppose it must be nice to actually have a peer once you are in that kind of income tax bracket.

My fearless cousin Marc base jumped off a cliff up Rock Canyon for my grandma's 90th birthday. Pretty sweet gift and she even got to be there to watch him do it! I hope I get to be 90 and have fearless daredevil grandsons!

Have I mentioned that we LOVE Slab pizza? Yes I believe I have, and guess what they love us too! Check it out!

What's that? You haven't been to Slab yet???!!!! Go to today and RUN don't walk it is just that good. While everything on their menu is scrumptious, we are ordering the Luke (that's right we both have Pizza named after us, our parents are so proud) it is SO so good, New Mexico Green Chili with goat cheese an cilantro. Aaand they have a new breakfast pizza that is delicious, you cannot miss it!

Hooray my cousin Jeff is home! He was serving in the Calgary, Canada Spanish speaking mission. We are so glad to see that is home safe and sound!

I am in love with this picture that Marianne took at the Sacramento airport, it reminds me of that Shel Silverstein drawing of the garbage that Sara Cynthia Silvia Stout would not take out.

nine months

Our little one is nine months old! I can't believe he has been out as long as he was in. He has gone from adorable little blinking bundle to waving, crawling, standing, eating cheerios by himself, destroying (which started around 8 months and lasts till he is what, 25?) and has three teeth and continues to be the most joyous and incredible child ever. Just our humble and unbiased opinion of course, he is truly the best in the world!

Nie Nie & Alice Lane Home

Oh how I love Alice Lane Home, so imagine my sheer delight when I got to photograph a room designed by them for Stephanie Nielson of the Nie Nie Dialogs. Does it get much better than that? I think not.

Suzanne Hall is one of Alice Lanes head designers and she happens to be one of my dear friends. Suzanne is so gifted as a designer, (how great is her drawing of Nie nie's basement, pictured above) her heart and soul comes though in every thing she designs! She is an absolute joy to be around and it was so great to get to work with her. The ladies at Alice Lane Home are marvelous! And have you been inside their store? Magical. Jessica has put together a very talented team. I cannot wait to have them design my home someday (in the far, seemingly endless distant future. *sigh*)

Anthony Bourdain has my dream job, traveling all over the world to eat. Yes, my aspirations are simple, I just want to eat good food. And so does Tony which is probably why I love him so much. It certainly doesn't hurt that he is witty, cantankerous and slightly foul (you know in a lovable way.) While my version of No Reservations would be painfully boring (imagine a travel and food show based on a Mormon vegetarian) I still have grand dreams of one day taking his place on the travel channel.

You can imagine my sheer delight when I heard he is coming to Salt Lake to speak, delight doesn't really describe it, he is pretty much a rock star to me. So my dear Mr. Reece, Joey and I are headed up to the SLC tomorrow to bask in all of Tony's glory. I cannot wait.
